BAT0NY1 DRIVING BLUE RIBBON WINNERS. Aurel Batonyi is one of the best known drivers and judges of show horses in the United States. He is also an expert on show dogs. In the accompanying illustration he is shown driving Othello and Arab Prince, two veteran winners of prizes in the coaching class and which have held for three years the Waldorf-Astoria. Challenge cup awarded annually at the oational horse show. A great deal of a show horse's ability depends on his driver, especially in regard to the fine points in contests. In many instances a really superior animal poorly driven will be found lacking by the judges, the ribbon being V -- ""-?i ' f 1 i t X .

A CHINESE BULLDOG LONGEST PHOTOGRAPH IN THE WORLD. — (Th» Sphera. was made for the coming exhibition at St. Louis, and consists of a view of Vesuvius and the city and entire bay of Xaples. The photograph re quired very few touches after completion of the mechanical processes. The New Photographic Com pan}', of Berlin, undertook this huge piece of pho tographio work. The original negatives were taken on 9xll plates and then enlarged, the process being carried on in the open air on a dark night. the huge wheel being erected for the purpose. While the enlargement was revolved upon a great wheel lo feet in diameter a man at the top waa hosing the huge print in order to restrain local development while other parts requiring forcing were treated with a sponge filled wilh developer. The process of fixing- alone was a serious one, the quantity of solution being such as would frighten an amateiur photograplksr. Ales tanks were The fixing tank measured 45 feet long by 6 feet wile and 3 feet deep, and was full of solution. The whole photograph measured M feet by • Six i>Utes were used, and the image was enlarged direct on to bromide paper, each section measuring one and one-half yards by two yards. for Dresden, the other for St. Louis.
